10 Recent Movie Trailers That Gave Too Much Away
6. A Quiet Place Part II
A Quiet Place Part II could've probably just been marketed on the strength of its electrifying opening prologue sequence and a few snippets of Cillian Murphy's new character Emmett, though Paramount sadly couldn't help themselves.
This was a classic case of a trailer including extensive out-of-context footage which attentive viewers could then chronologise while they were watching the movie for the first time.
Especially frustrating was the inclusion of many clips from the final 10 minutes of the movie, particularly of a monster rampaging on the island, Djimon Hounsou's unnamed character being dragged away to his presumed death, and Emmett and Regan's (Millicent Simmonds) climactic trip to the radio station.
The hard sell clearly worked per the movie's impressive box office performance, but with so many distinctive images hammered into audience's minds for over a year before the film was finally released - an inadvertent result of the pandemic, in part - it was easy to see where things were going.
