5. Austin Butler As Feyd Rautha - Dune 2

Dune Part Two
Warner Bros. Pictures

What an extraordinary actor this man has become.

The audition process for casting Dune: Part Two's villainous Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen is well documented, and director Denis Villeneuve will have been delighted with what Academy Award nominee Austin Butler brought to the table.

Butler boasts a remarkable resume of filmmakers he has worked under already in what still feels like the early days of his career, including the likes of Quentin Tarantino, Baz Luhrmann and as of most recently, Ari Aster and Darren Aronofsky, as well as the aforementioned Villeneuve, and this is where we've seen the Elvis star's greatest performance to date on the big screen.

Although his portrayal of the King of Rock and Roll was nothing short of exceptional, Butler completely loses himself in Feyd Rautha to the point that he's effectively unrecognisable in the role. The way the actor brings the character to life is nothing short of terrifying.

His ghostly-pale skin, soulless eyes and fetal features are just aesthetic ploys that shape Butler's approach to the character's physicality and, more importantly, his warped psyche.

He's unhinged, unpredictable, and loves nothing more than inflicting pain on others for his own sick and twisted pleasures.

It's always a good sign when performances are considered impossible to replicate by another actor, and Butler's iteration of the deranged prince of Giedi Prime truly warranted critical acclaim for an actor who's only getting better with every role he claims and conquers.
