2. Snow White
Filter out all the noise surrounding Disney's recent live-action Snow White remake and there was genuine hope that it would offer up a dazzling new take on one of the Mouse House's most beloved animations.
But like so many other live-action Disney remakes, Snow White quickly reveals itself to be another superficial confection, with sterile, plastic-looking CGI actively working against the efforts of the cast.
Then there's the music - the opening tune, "Good Things Grow," is a thoroughly generic offering from prolific songwriters Pasek and Paul, sounding like an offcut from their work on The Greatest Showman and therefore setting the pedestrian tone for the music to come.
Snow White's opening also introduces us to Gal Gadot's Evil Queen and provides a brief glimpse at her uneven performance, broached awkwardly between fierce intensity and high camp but never quite fully embracing one or the other.
At least these opening scenes do confirm one undeniable truth - Rachel Zegler is one hell of a singer, and the easy bright spot in this otherwise flavourless, forgettable remake.
