10 Recent Movies That Were Forced To Shut Down Production (And Why)

5. The Rhythm Section

One of 2020's most notable box-office bombs so far, action-thriller The Rhythm Section didn't have the smoothest of production cycles. It started shooting in December 2017 but wasn't released until this January, and a lengthy filming hiatus is partly to blame for the massive disparity between those two dates.

In January 2018, production on the movie was suspended indefinitely - with the crew even being told to go and find other work - after star Blake Lively sustained a hand injury while performing a big stunt.

According to THR, it was hoped that Lively would make a speedy recovery so that filming could quickly resume, but unfortunately, the actress' initial hand surgery didn't go too well, requiring her to have even more surgery, and thus, more time to rest and recuperate.

At the time of the incident, only half of the movie had been shot, and it wasn't until summer 2018 that things picked back up again. All that time and effort, only to flop at the box-office. The universe can be really cruel sometimes.
