6. The Ritual
Exorcism movies have a tendency to perform well at the box office even when they're not very good, and The Ritual also benefitted from the added value of Al Pacino in the lead role.
And yet despite this, it's painfully clear that nobody had faith - pardon the pun - in this one, which was dumped in barely 500 U.S. cinemas with only the bare minimum marketing.
It certainly didn't help that the film scored some of the worst reviews of the year so far, failing to crack even 10% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Worse still, it couldn't even offer some perverse entertainment as a so-bad-it's-good romp, given that just about everyone agrees The Ritual is a total bore without even a scenery-chewing Pacino performance to savour.
And so, the film topped out at just $3.2 million worldwide - an embarrassingly bad figure for, again, an exorcism film starring Al freakin' Pacino - before falling off the face of the Earth.
