10 Recent Underrated Movies That Deserve A Second Chance

2. Crawl

Crawl is Jaws with a crocodile, set in an old house. Somehow, some critics managed to spin this as a bad thing.

Jaws is one of the tensest movies ever made, and while Crawl doesn’t reach that level, it’s hardly a bad aspiration to have. In terms of quality, Crawl is closer to Jaws 2, but certainly doesn’t sink to the levels of 3D or Revenge, as some would have you believe.

Being underrated, of course, is slightly relative. Crawl made $90 million off just a $13 million budget, which as low budget horror movies go, constitutes a massive success. In a time when so many horror movies, be they IT, Get Out or Annabelle, seem to capture the public’s hearts and live long in the memory, it already feels like Crawl is fading away.

It would be such a shame if recognition for the film continues to disappear, as it took a very simple concept and executed it brilliantly. We need more films which do the basics as well as Crawl.

Unlike most movies here, Crawl did enjoy a commercial success, but it still slipped from many radars and deserves another chance if it missed yours.
