10 Relationships That Must Be Explored In Future Marvel Movies

3. Nick Fury & Phil Coulson

There is absolutely no denying the fact that these two guys have the utmost respect for each other. Coulson was recruited in to S.H.I.E.L.D. straight from school by Fury, eventually becoming a special agent under Fury's supervision and going on to become one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most decorated field operatives. Coulson was put in charge of surveillance and served as the primary operative in Fury's Avengers Initiative. When Coulson was killed in the Avengers movie, Fury had him revived using the alien drug GH.325, ordering the S.H.I.E.L.D. medical staff to do so under the case designated Project T.A.H.I.T.I. Coulson had his wounds repaired at the cellular level and was brought back to life with no memory of the procedure. He has since been put in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a whole, in place of Fury, by the man himself, after the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s faked death meant he had to keep on the run. A deeper look in to the duo's past relationship would be very good to see, but having Fury mentor Coulson in his new role as head of S.H.I.E.L.D. is something that we are more likely to see in the future - and that's something everyone should look forward to.
