10 Relationships That Must Be Explored In Future Marvel Movies

4. Phil Coulson & Audrey Nathan

After Phil Coulson had "died" in the Avengers movie, Steve Rogers asked Tony Stark if he had been married. Stark replied with "there was a cellist, I think", which had initially led people to believe that Coulson had been romantically linked to the Scarlet Witch (who is to be played by Elizabeth Olsen in Avengers: Age of Ultron), due to the fact that the character has been known to play the cello in the comic books. That rumour was ruled out when, in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (after Coulson had been revealed to be still alive), it was revealed that the cellist in question was Audrey Nathan - played by regular Whedonite Amy Acker. Nathan believed that Coulson was dead, so he had to keep away from her, even though he was trying to save her from her stalker - the powerful Blackout. Coulson has since learned that Nathan still has feelings for him and there is nothing that would please audiences more than to see one of the most beloved characters in modern cinema find happiness. Coulson has become a cult hero, thanks to Clark Gregg's inimitable performance as the charismatic agent, and for him to get some love on the big screen would be wonderful.
