10 Ridiculous Cases Of Movie Censorship

5. Reservoir Dogs Home Video Release

Reservoir Dogs enjoyed a theatrical run in the UK in 1992 just as it did in the rest of the world, but curiously, it wasn't granted a home video classification until 1995. Technically not banned or refused a certificate, there was simply a "delay" in processing it (which essentially amounted to an unofficial ban), during which time it even had a second theatrical run in 1994, as if to politely remind the BBFC to do their freaking job and get the damn thing certified. The theory persists that the film's classification being on hold for so long was a result of the BBFC's then-director James Ferman being pressured in the wake of the infamous video nasties crack-down that took place around that time following the murder of toddler Jamie Bulger.
