There was realistically only one winner for the best drama coming out of 2023 film productions.

It's difficult to summarise all the headlines and news from Don't Worry Darling's production and promotional campaign. Indeed, an entire timeline has been published to help people keep up to date with the latest drama, which seemed to be never-ending.

Reports first focused on Shia LaBeouf's casting and subsequent exit in the film's early stages. In essence, director Olivia Wilde claims she fired him due to the "combative energy" he brought to the production. LaBeouf, however, insists he quit because of a lack of rehearsal time.

Throughout, much was made about rumours of on-set fallouts and pay disparities between lead Florence Pugh and her counterpart, Harry Styles (LaBeouf's replacement). Concerns were also raised about scenes showcasing female pleasure overshadowing the film's themes and overall message.

However, the production's most significant controversies emerged from the cast's promotional appearance at the Venice film festival. Among other headlines, the hottest talking point came from a clip where Styles appears to spit on cast member Chris Pine, something many of the production vehemently deny.

Whatever transpired while making Don't Worry Darling, I'm sure we'll be hearing about it for the coming months (or years).
