7. The Final Jump Scare - The Cloverfield Paradox

The Cloverfield Paradox was also not a good movie, but it sure did serve up one hell of a pant-filling jump scare in its final shot.

After scientists Hamilton (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and Schmidt (Daniel Brühl) jump back to their original dimension and re-enter Earth's atmosphere in an escape pod, a gigantic Clover monster pokes its head above the clouds and lets out a booming roar.

Even though the basic, visceral horror of the jump was scary enough, remembering the creature's size relative to the "infant" Clover from the original Cloverfield raises some tantalising and truly terrifying questions.

While it's a shame the movie's Cloverfield links felt fairly tacked on for the most part, at least the jolting end-scene seared itself into the psyche of anyone who watched it.
