10 Sci-Fi Films To Be Genuinely Excited About In 2016

9. Cell

Release Date: February 26, 2016 John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson reunite to bring another Stephen King story to the big screen in Cell, the tale of a New England artist who is attempting to locate his son amidst a terrifying phenomenon €“ a mysterious signal being broadcast over the global phone network that is turning those exposed to it into hordes of vicious animals. Clay (Cusack) and a small band of survivors set out to find the so-called Pulse and stop those controlling it. Cusack and Jackson, who starred alongside each other in the adaptation King€™s short story 1408, will be steered by Paranormal Activity 2 director Tod Williams, though he is not the first man linked with helming the project. Eli Roth was on the verge of taking the job back in 2006 and was extremely vocal about his enthusiasm for project and the source material:
€œI love that book. Such a smart take on the zombie movie. I am so psyched to do it. I think you can really do almost a cross between the Dawn of the Dead remake with a Roland Emmerich approach where you show it happening all over the world. When the pulse hits, I wanna see it hit everywhere! In restaurants, in movie theatres, at sports events, all the places that people drive you crazy when they're talking on their cell phones. I see total Armageddon.€
Let€™s hope that Williams takes Roth€™s vision into consideration, because Roland Emmerich€™s Dawn of the Dead sounds pretty damn awesome.
