10 Sci-Fi Movie Fates Worse Than Death

3. Being Transformed Into A Cyborg - Robocop

Alex Murphy was a police officer working in Detroit when his life took something of a turn. When he and his partner happened upon notorious criminal Clarence Boddiker and his crew, he gets shot. A lot. The men gather around Murphy and blast him while laughing until finally putting one in his head.

They might have thought they were ending his suffering with that last shot, but all they managed to do was turn Murphy into a candidate for the new Robocop program. His body was transformed by Omni Consumer Products, the private company that took over policing the city of Detroit.

OCP took what was left of Murphy and ripped him apart even more. One of his arms was saved, but in the end, they tore that off to add a cybernetic arm, ultimately turning Murphy into Robocop. The newly-created cyborg police officer had his memories erased, but they didn't remain buried forever.

As time went by, Murphy realized who he was and what had become of him. He pined for his wife and son, both of whom believed him deceased, which he kind of was. He was killed and turned into an amnesiac cyborg, which is a fate few would choose over death.
