10 Scrapped Horror Movie Scenes Better Than What We Got
1. A Chewed Head - The Lost Boys
There's a point there during Joel Schumacher's much-loved The Lost Boys when David (Kiefer Sutherland) and the biker gang of vampires launch an attack on some unsuspecting victims around a fire.
Within that sudden beach ambush, David takes a big ol' bite out of someone's head, with blood very briefly spurting out of it before the camera cuts away.
You'll be pleased to hear that an extended and far more deranged version of this scene that sounds way more awesome than the one we got exists. But it's still yet to see the light of day at the time of writing.
According to Sutherland himself when talking to Yahoo! Entertainment, the scene originally saw David not just latch onto the bald bloke's noggin, but actually scoff chunks of it. This gnarly effect was achieved by making a prosthetic cast of the victim's head, with Sutherland then eating the thing that was "like a cake" as blood went everywhere.
Finishing off the moment, the actor was directed to then smile like a child munching on some cake.
In the end, though, it was decided that someone shockingly devouring a head was a little too gross and violent for the movie, so the scene Sutherland was super excited about was scrapped.
You never know, this piece of both frightening and silly gore may rear its head online at some point in the future. For now, though, fans will just have to imagine what this cake bite looked like in the full version of the sequence.
