10 Shocking MCU Movie Plans That Almost Happened
8. Quicksilver Didn't Die (Avengers: Age Of Ultron)
During the famously messy production of Avengers: Age of Ultron, there was an earlier draft of the script where Joss Whedon had Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) survive being turned into Swiss cheese courtesy of Ultron (James Spader).
In fact, Whedon has stated that an entire alternate fate for Quicksilver was actually shot, where he somehow wakes up despite his wounds and joins the team, new costume and all, at the swanky new Avengers HQ at the end of the film.
Ultimately Whedon decided that he needed to "stand by" the death - considering how many times the MCU had already played fast-and-loose with its finality by this point - and all things considered, it was the smart choice.
Plus, Evan Peters' version of the character in the X-Men franchise ended up being so, so much better, so it all worked out for the best.
