10 Shocking Times Movie Heroes Completely Lost Control

1. Luke Skywalker - Return Of The Jedi

If the Skywalkers from Star Wars taught audiences anything, it's that giving in to the Dark Side in us all and losing control, whilst bringing some serious power, is generally a bad move.

Most of Luke's story from Empire Strikes Back to the end of Return of the Jedi revolves around whether or not he'll be turned to the Dark Side like his father, Darth Vader, was. Both Yoda and the Emperor believe that he will, though his love for his friends and ultimately his father is what saves him from that fate and plays a large role in bringing Anakin Skywalker back to the light.

However, it didn't look like things were going to work out that way at one point. In an attempt to bring out the anger in him during their duel on the Second Death Star, Vader runs through a whole load of coaxing before finally getting a reaction by mentioning Luke's sister, Leia. Luke immediately goes on the offensive, unleashing a flurry of aggressive attacks that push Vader back and back and end up with the Sith Lord losing his hand (again).

Everything from the black robes worn by each character, to the tragic John Williams score makes this a sombre, unsettling moment of rage for our symbol of hope in the galaxy.
