10 Shocking Times Movie Heroes Completely Lost Control

4. Frodo - Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers

Kingsman Secret Service
New Line Cinema

Frodo has made a name within the Lord of the Rings world as being something of a whingebag. Whilst Merry and Pippin are out mixing it up with the likes of Aragon and Gandalf, and Sam serves as Middle Earth's most valuable asset, Frodo spends the majority of the trilogy either complaining about tiredness, hunger or the weight of the ring.

Carrying the ring that drove Smeagol to Gollum might be the only thing that could warrant such complaining however, with Frodo looking more and more affected by its power as his and Sam's journey to Mount Doom rolls on.

Things reach a devastating and truly tear-jerking climax in the second film of the three, when Sam, Frodo and Gollum are led through Gondor by Faramir. With the city under siege by the Nazgul hunting for the One Ring, Frodo becomes enthralled by the call of the ring and comes very close to meeting his maker. Sam saves his friend, but the two Hobbits become embroiled in a quick fit which ends with Frodo drawing his sword and brandishing a crazed, controlled look.

Sam is once again able to coax his friend back to him, but seeing Frodo lose control of himself so much that he's able to hold a sword to someone like Sam is seriously chilling stuff.
