10 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made MCU Phase Two Awesome

2. Cut Down On The Fake Deaths

An inherent issue with the modern landscape of superhero movies is that none of the main cast can die; they can get hurt, they can lose loved ones but as they need to be in the next five movies audiences know well ahead of time that they€™ll be fine. This lack of tension is a repeated source of criticism, with the problem not being helped by Marvel repeatedly killing characters off and immediately resurrecting them. First there was the death of Agent Coulson, who put a human face on S.H.I.E.L.D. Loki stabbing him carries much less impact once people realise he was brought back for the TV show, which is an issue even Joss Whedon agrees with. Phase Two only ramped it up. There was Pepper Potts falling to her death in Iron Man 3, but since she was superpowered at the time she didn€™t even get a scratch. Then Nick Fury got an overdose of bullets in The Winter Soldier, only to reveal he faked his death. And then there's Loki, who dies and comes back like clockwork. These fakeouts keep happening and even hardcore fans are sick of them. If they're going to kill a character off then Marvel should have the guts to stick to it; otherwise they're pointlessly toying with the audience.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
