10 Star Wars Characters Who Only Had One Movie To Shine

6. Greedo - A New Hope

Greedo€™s claim to fame comes from his untimely death at the hands of a certain smuggler. We all remember how the Rodian bounty hunter cornered Han in the Mos Eisley Cantina after his meeting with Obi-Wan and Luke. With Chewbacca attending to the Millennium Falcon, Han had to deal with Greedo on his own. Attempting to talk his way out first, Han was forced to shoot Greedo under the table after the Rodian wouldn't relent. In retrospect, Greedo should have brought backup to help him with Han. Unfortunately, Greedo€™s image suffered at the hands of George Lucas years later. Lucas liked to go back and make edits to the original films so that they would better fit his €œvision.€ For the 1997 re-releases, one of the edits had Greedo shooting Han at point-blank range and missing before Han gets off his shot. This prompted fan outcry and led to the infamous phrase "Han shot first." Lucas stated that he made Greedo shoot first to enhance Han€™s heroism and not portray him as a cold-blooded killer. There€™s two problems with this. First, we€™re not supposed to think of Han as a hero at this point. He€™s a smuggler who€™s only helping Obi-Wan and Luke for the money. His moment of heroism comes when he saves Luke from Darth Vader not for money, but to help a friend. Second, having Greedo miss Han when he€™s across the table just makes him look incompetent. A bounty hunter that can't hit someone right in front of him probably shouldn't be working for Jabba the Hutt.
