Last Film Entry: Texas Chainsaw (2013)

What's going on? Ever since the original film hit theaters in 1974, the franchise has had a rocky history. After three sequels, the series earned itself a reboot in 2003, which spawned its own prequel before the series doubled back to create a direct follow-up to the 1974 film that ignored the original sequels.

Though only seven films have surfaced from the series, Leatherface has remained a horror icon for the last 40 years, turning up in at least one film a decade. For now, fans of the long-running franchise have nothing to worry about in terms of its future, as the eighth film, Leatherface, is arriving next year, taking the series back in time again to explore how a young Jackson Sawyer became the chainsaw-wielding murderer.
