10 Status Updates On Iconic Horror Franchises

Last Film Entry: Friday the 13th (2009)

What's going on? It's been six years since Jason Voorhees last slashed his way around Camp Crystal Lake, but things are finally picking up once more for the hockey-masked icon. In the wake of the reboot, fans have been teased with everything from a follow-up to a found footage film, but it seems that those behind the next entry - the 13th film, no less - are once more clearing the slate to try a new interpretation.

Though details are scarce, the script was turned in this summer, David Bruckner is locked as the director and the film is currently set for release on Friday, May 13th, 2016. It's entirely possible that that date could shift or production could stumble again, but things finally appear to be coming together to get Jason back in theaters.

And even if that fails, fans can look forward to returning to Crystal Lake on the small screen, as the CW is developing a series with the original film's director Sean S. Cunningham about the lives of people caught up in Jason's murderous reemergence.
