On screen, Robert de Niro has brought to life some of the most enigmatic, fascinating character ever committed to film. In real life, he's kind of a downer. Not just in comparison to his Travis Bickles and Jake LaMottas, who are tough personalities to live up to nope, in interviews and public appearances, de Niro just seems like a regular dude. But, like a really boring regular dude. That's his prerogative, nay, his right. Guy's not always performing. For de Niro, acting is just a job like any other. He goes in, does his work, goes home. The work doesn't go home with him. It's an entirely separate entity. Which might explain some of the more spotty recent entries on his IMDb. He's not averse to branching out into other businesses, either. So what else does Martin Scorsese's permier actor invest his time and money into? A Goodfellas-inspired pizzeria? Cape Fear riverboat cruises? Nope, apparently he's big on...sushi. Apparently he's been pals with famed Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa for ages, landing him a cameo in Casino, and they run a couple of restaurants in New York.
