10 Superhero Films That Abused Us Worse Than Fantastic Four

9. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

From too smart to far too dumb. If Hulk and Fantastic Four try too hard to be clever (whether they actually succeed is another matter), X-Men Origins: Wolverine goes too far the other way, being a brainless actioner which barely takes five minutes to stop and think. Beyond its legitimately brilliant opening credits sequence, there's little to recommend in Logan's first solo outing: certainly not the awful CGI, the complete lack of consistency and its utter contempt for its characters. How else can you excuse it making its version of Deadpool (a character whose defining characteristic is that he never shuts up) as a man who spends the entire finale speechless, with his mouth sewn up. Granted, you're not missing much (before he was just Smartass Ryan Reynolds character no. 578) but it's a particularly astonishing decision in a film full of awful ideas and missed opportunities. You'd be better off with the surprisingly good video-game tie-in, which at least felt like a legitimate Wolverine comic book adventure.
