Though you may not recognise the name, you'll have almost certainly seen something with Beninese actor Djimon Hounsou in it.

For Marvel fans, he's Korath the Pursuer in Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. For DC fans, he's both the Fisherman King in Aquaman and the wizard Shazam!

Clearly DC's continuity department cares just about much about these movies as we all do.

Outside of the superhero realm, Hounsou is a twice-nominated performer at the Oscars. His first was for 2002's In America, and then he picked up his second for 2006's Blood Diamond.

Third on the bill behind Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Connolly, Hounsou plays Solomon Vandy, a fisherman from Sierra Leone who discovers an enormous pink diamond that is of great interest to some very shady people.

Hounsou more than holds his own up against Leo (and his dodgy South African accent) and delivers an expert portrayal of a family man caught up in a terrible civil war.

An underrated actor in general. Hounsou is definitely an underrated part of a movie that is pretty much rated as fairly as it should be.
