10 Supporting Actors Who Totally Stole The Movie
6. Paul Bettany - A Knightâs Tale
Just as Armando Ianucci threw historical accuracy out the window for his movie, Brian Helgeland took a similarly laissez-faire approach with his medieval adventure comedy A Knight's Tale.
Starring Heath Ledger as a squire masquerading as a knight, the film takes some serious liberties with how things actually were at this time.
We're not experts, but we're pretty sure trumpet players weren't blasting out Queen's We Will Rock You in the 14th Century.
The film takes its name and the plot (extremely loosely) from the similarly-titled passage from Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. So, it makes perfect sense for Big Geoff to turn up in this film completely naked.
That's how we're first introduced to Paul Bettany's interpretation of the famed writer. He's been mugged and joins up with Ledger's crew for safety.
The Vision actor is fantastic as the initially-cowardly author. His evolution from snivelling wretch to brave hero is fantastic to watch and he offers up some of the movie's best lines in the process.
A Knight's Tale is a proper hidden gem Sunday afternoon kinda movie, although maybe warn your Nan that there is a man's full bottom right at the very start.
