For many fans of the Web-slinger, Sam Raimi's three Spider-Man movies from the noughties are the definitive big screen presentation of the Marvel mainstay.

Before Tom Holland brought the character to the MCU or Andrew Garfield did whatever the hell he was trying to do, Tobey Maguire was Peter Parker, battling the likes of the Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and Venom.

He also had another, less fantastical villain to go up against - maniacal newspaper editor J. Jonah Jameson.

As head of The Daily Bugle, Jameson is hellbent on exposing Spidey as a criminal. He believes that the superhero is nothing more than a public menace and uses every tool at his disposal to try and put him away.

Jameson is played fantastically by the powerhouse that is J. K. Simmons. Regardless of who your favourite Spider-Man is, there can be no argument that Simmons' version of his character is the version everybody thinks of first.

He was so good that they brought him back for the MCU! How many other characters can you say that about?

Well, Maguire and Garfield's Spider-Mans, but that's besides the point!
