10 Surprising Horror Movie Cameos
2. Edgar Wright And Simon Pegg Get Zombified
After being inspired while writing and shooting a zombie hallucination in an episode of Spaced, Simon Pegg and co-writer/director Edgar Wright were inspired to create their own feature. The result, Shaun of the Dead, is a loving tribute to zombie film, not only bringing with it its own sense of style but incorporation a lot of the movies they adored. Shaun even has it's own, biting social commentary, something instrumental in George A. Romero's "dead" franchise.
It didn't fall on deaf ears. Horror lovers rejoiced and Pegg and Wright were almost instantly praised by critics and audiences alike. One particular fan was George A. Romero himself, who decided to invite Wright and Pegg to the set of Land of the Dead, his fourth entry in the series.
Their cameo is particularly winking, as they play chained up zombies for the wealthy to take pictures near without being in any danger. It's a goof on the entire zombie genre - two guys who set out to make it funny getting turned into a sideshow.
