10 Surprising MCU Phase 4 Decisions No One Saw Coming

2. No New Avengers Movie

Avengers: Endgame brought an entire era of storytelling to a close, but also set the stage for a brand new wave of stories set in the MCU. While we're now going to see those in everything from Eternals to Moon Knight and She-Hulk, there's one franchise it's mind-blowing to see is somehow missing from the Phase 4 slate: The Avengers!

Endgame became the highest grossing movie of all-time last year, and Marvel Studios could have released literally anything with the "Avengers" label plastered all over it and you can guarantee it would have been a hit. Well, for better or worse, they've decided not to do that, but it does feel like something of a missed opportunity if we're being honest.

After all, with Black Panther opening a base in California at the end of his solo film, a West Coast Avengers movie made up of lesser known heroes would have worked nicely for Phase 4 (making good use of some different threats in the process). The Avengers will return - a Young Avengers film could very well be on the way - but not during the next few years.
