10 Terrible Movies That Got ONE Thing Right

2. So I Married An Axe Murderer - Anytime Stuart Is Onscreen

So I Married An Axe Murderer is, in every way, a typical early '90s comedy. It's loaded with stars of that era, including SNL alumni, and a host of other faces that you no doubt recognized. Despite all that, it wasn't very funny.

Not very funny, that is, until Mike Myers is onscreen in the role of Charlie's father Stuart Mackenzie.

Between Myers' spot-on Scottish accent and the litany of outrageous things he says, whether he's lecturing his son's friend Tony on American deep state politics or attempting to both entertain and MC Charlie's wedding, he is by far the best character in the film. He creates endlessly quotable lines and is one of the few truly funny parts of the movie.

Myers was basically given carte blanche during many of his scenes; as a result his co-stars seldom had any idea what might come out of his mouth. A perfect example of this is during the KFC/orange on a toothpick rant in the Mackenzie's living room. If you watch Anthony LaPaglia, who plays Tony, you can see him constantly surprised and genuinely reacting to Myers' dialogue.

A few years later, Myers would transfer this character into a giant green ogre.
