If you ever wanted to know what a Japanese slasher film would look like, then here is your chance, and it's safe to say that it's not for the faint-hearted.

Evil Dead Trap gives you precisely what you would expect from such a title, as the fright-fest is filled to the brim with gruesome effects and twisted killings. The lead SFX artist would even go on to a career as a monster-suit maker for several Godzilla movies, proving the level of quality on display.

When TV host Nami requests home videos from her viewers, she is sent a snuff film allegedly shot at a nearby abandoned factory. In response, she gathers up a film crew and investigates. However, they are hunted down and murdered one-by-one in exceedingly brutal fashion by a mysterious figure who seems more monster than human.

The movie is incredibly well crafted and plays into all the slasher tropes perfectly, while still giving you an original experience thanks to the villain's strangeness. Without spoiling exactly what form it takes, the killer's reveal might not work for some people, but it's still an incredibly creative concept and provides the film with a unique edge against other slasher flicks.
