9. Too Many Cliches
Generally, nothing takes me out of a movie like a badly timed cliche. While very few, if any, movies are completely free of cliches, the amount of cliches that appears in most movies nowadays is ridiculous. The one that might annoy me the most, although it's pretty minor, is how people wake up so violently after having a nightmare. I've had a nightmares before, but I've never woken up screaming from one. Also every superhero decides to use their powers for good after someone close to them dies, explosions never hurt the heroes, every head shot causes immediate unconsciousness, kids are always genius level computer hackers and many, many others. Simply getting rid of a small amount of the boatload of overused cliches would make the overall quality of movies much higher.
