10 Things Nobody Wants To See In Indiana Jones 5

1. Janusz KamiĀ„ski As Cinematographer

We wouldn't for one second want to diminish the achievements of cinematographer Janusz Kaminski: he's won two Oscars for his lensing (Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan) and has another four nominations under his belt, all but one from working with Steven Spielberg.

That said, he brought a distinctly uglier look to the Indy franchise in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, far away from legendary DP Douglas Slocombe's silky smooth, super-consistent visuals in the original trilogy. Perhaps part of the problem is that Kaminski attempted to emulate the warmth of Slocombe's palette but also had to factor in the abundance of modern CGI, resulting in a final product that draws undue attention to its own glossiness.

Given how many superbly talented DPs there are out there, we'd love to see Spielberg pick someone different this time around. Another chance to earn Roger Deakins that damn Oscar, perhaps?

How Likely Is It?: Virtually certain. Kaminski has lensed almost all of Spielberg's movies since Schindler's List, so why would he ever want to change it up now? Unless Kaminski dies or another dream project comes his way (like a Bond film), he'll be shooting it. 9/10

What do you most want Indiana Jones 5 to avoid? Shout it out in the comments!
