10 Things That Make No Sense About Star Wars Sequels

5. Who Was The Hacker With The Red Flower Broach?

In The Last Jedi, when Finn, Rose, and Poe realize they'll need a slicer, essentially a hacker, in order to break into Snoak's flagship, they turn to their well-connected friend Maz Kanata. While Maz is busy with a firefight, she has enough time to direct them to Canto Bight, the residence of an old slicer friend of hers who can be identified by his signature broach: a red alien flower.

Finn and Rose travel to Canto Bight and do eventually find a suave-looking gambler with the broach Maz described, but are captured and taken away before they can approach him. In their cell, they come across DJ, another slicer who is able to suit their needs, and their quest for Maz's recommended hacker is forgotten.

But who is the hacker? He's played by actor Justin Theroux so it's clear he is supposed to be important in one capacity or another, and Maz's sterling description of him hints at a charming, James-Bond-like adventurer. Audiences never even learned his name, but he was so immediately memorable that it was a genuine disappointment that he never showed up again in the film.
