10 Things The Dark Tower Movie Should Have Done Differently
5. Fewer Writers Involved
With Akiva Goldsman, Jeff Pinkner, Anders Thomas Jensen and director Nikolaj Arcel sharing scripting duties between them, it's clear there were too many cooks in the The Dark Tower's inter-dimensional kitchen.
Goldsman was involved in the project since 2010 when Ron Howard was in line to direct, with Pinkner heading up a rewrite before Jensen and Arcel joined the team.
Now, four writers isn't necessarily overkill, but for a movie that runs for little over an hour and a half it's excessive, and given how disjointed the movie feels, it's clear there were too many minds pushing it in different directions.
Perhaps it was butchered in the editing suite, but a streamlined writing team would have kept the vision more consistent and unified throughout.
