10 Things The Dark Tower Movie Should Have Done Differently
2. Tell A Tighter Story
Let's pretend this sequel-reboot thing was the right way to go for a second. The movie should at least have told a coherent story where the end of one scene actually meets the beginning of the next.
The Dark Tower has been stripped to its bare bones where exposition is concerned, and it apparently forgets to explain the 'why' of most of its plot points to the audience.
Why does The Man in Black want to destroy the universe? How come harvesting energy from psychic children is the only thing that can bring down the tower, and why do the bad guy's henchmen wear human skin-masks?
The movie just leaves questions like these hanging in the air, and given that Sony appears to have made every effort to pander to series newcomers, it's not going to convert any of them into fans by leaving them in the dark.
Yes, the movie did need to be longer, but it could have maintained its brevity while telling a tighter story that actually clues the auidence up along the way.
