5. It Sounds Trippy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-r0zqoXZhE What you've heard so far sounds unlike any other Marvel movie. In fact, in some points it skews close to the Distinguished Competition; the six-minute trailer's soundtrack's reminiscent of the award-winning music from the The Dark Knight Trilogy. The theme from the second trailer (above) doesn't tell the whole story; there's a mixture of flute-like sounds and synthesisers to accompany the early scenes of Ant-Man in action, emphasising not just his power but the out-and-out strangeness of his abilities. It's trippy and epic in equal measure. Still, making this trailer sound all Dark Knighty is an interesting choice that highlights the conflict in the making of this particular movie. Does Marvel want to present it as the Dark Mini-Knight (Dark Pawn?), a film that relies on the general popularity of superheroes to push through its stranger elements? Or is it more of a parody and should this music be viewed as tongue-in-cheek?
