10 Things You Didn't Know About Jamie Foxx

5. He Was Nominated For Two Oscars In The Same Year

Jamie Foxx was the second actor in history to be nominated for two different Oscars in the same year for two movies. In 2004, he was nominated both for best leading actor in Ray, and for best supporting actor in Collateral. The only other actor to ever do that was Al Pacino, nominated for Scent of a Woman and Glengary Glenn Ross in 1992. Funnily enough, Foxx actually costarred with Pacino in Any Given Sunday. You know you're a great actor when you've achieved something that only Al Pacino has achieved before. He is also the first person ever to be nominated for three Golden Globe awards in the same year, the nominations for which were announced on his 37th birthday. In 2005, he was nominated for his performances in Ray, Collateral and Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story, a made for TV movie about the founder of the Crips L.A. street gang. Foxx described the surreal experience he and his friend Speedy had on the night he won his first Oscar. "Halle and Denzel are supposed to win the Oscars," he said. "Speedy and I were always just a couple of Wet Willies with cops harassing us."
