10 Things You Learn Rewatching Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
4. Janet Leigh's Cameo
Straight-up, Janet Leigh is a legend. She of course immortalised Marion Crane in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho and just so happens to be the mother of another badass woman who delivers stellar performances in horror films, none other than Jamie Lee Curtis herself.
Having Leigh cameo as Norma Watson, Laurie's assistant at the school is a touch of genuine genius. While she and Jamie Lee have a couple of brief moments together in the film, there's one that sticks out above all others which is the "maternal" heart-to-heart.
This scene has Janet Leigh, of all people, delivering the classic "I guess everyone's entitled to one good scare" line which is great in-and-of-itself. It also features Marion Crane's original Psycho car in the background, which is an easter egg to stab all other easter eggs in the shower.
Her inclusion is a hat-tip to the film that inspired Carpenter from the beginning, while also making H20 one of two movies in history to have Leigh and Jamie Lee together in the same film. Considering the other film is John Carpenter's own The Fog, a horror masterpiece, it's safe to say this puts H20 in good company.
