10 Things You Need To Know About Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn

3. Her Co-Creator Loves This Take On The Character

It's not uncommon for the writers and artists who came up with modern comic book characters to lash out at the live-action versions of their creations, but that hasn't been the case with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. First, some background. In 1992, Paul Dini and Bruce Timm had Harley Quinn - a character they created specifically for Batman: The Animated Series - make a brief appearance in an episode which focused on The Joker. Her unexpected popularity meant that it didn't take long for Harley to be introduced to the DC Comics Universe, and the character has subsequently gone from strength to strength. Asked for his thoughts on Robbie's take on Harley Quinn, Bruce Timm had this to say: " saw the first image of Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad movie, and I thought 'Woah. She looks actually pretty cute!' I was actually kind of worried I thought €˜Oh, she's going to look really, really bizarre and skanky' but nah, she's not too bad. So I'm often mistaken." That's quite the endorsement, especially as Timm is beloved by Batman and DC fans.
