After a falling out over money led to Disney and Sony calling it quits on the deal that allowed Marvel Studios to take creative control of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a new agreement has been signed which keeps Spidey around for at least one more movie.

That gives Marvel Studios the chance to address Spider-Man: Far From Home's massive cliffhanger ending, while possibly writing him out of the MCU in case of any future disagreements. How that could be done is hard to say, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has made it clear that Peter Parker is "the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes."

In other words, Sony wants to start using Spider-Man in the movies they release without Marvel Studios' assistance, and that could lead to things getting complicated down the line. They'll either have to work together to create a level of consistency or we're going to end up with the same actor playing two different versions of one character across a number of franchises.
