10 Things You Need To Know About The MCU’s Spider-Man
6. His Love Life Will Be Important
After three films with Kirsten Dunst as Mary-Jane Watson and two with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey, you might think there are no more romantic angles for Spider-Man movies to explore. Thats not the case, though, as Jon Watts has been looking into a particularly girl-heavy Spider-Man comic book series for inspiration. I dont know if youve ever seen the Spider-Man Loves Mary-Jane series, Watts told Den Of Geek when asked about his comic book inspirations, but they have this really great anime-style illustration, and its all just about Peter Parkers relationships. Its like the soap opera of Peter Parker in high school, he elaborated, as well as stressing the he finds these comics really funny, too. Comedy is said to be of central importance to Watts Spider-Man plans, so it seems likely that hell take this inspiration and run with it. This could mean that hes planning to introduce a new Mary-Jane, detail her teenage years, and make her Peter's love interest in the movie. In the Spider-Man Loves Mary-Jane comics, MJ has a crush on Spidey before she falls for Peter, which could be an interesting angle for a teen-focused superhero movie.
