3. Science Bros No More
It’s not just Thor resorting to violence in the face of Tony Stark’s patented snark; some of the earliest concept art released ahead of Age Of Ultron gave diehard fans a glimpse of nerd heaven when it was revealed that Iron Man has added Hulkbuster armour to his wardrobe for the Avengers sequel.
The downside of what promises to be the standout set piece when Iron Man and the Hulk go toe to toe is that there’s not much chance of seeing BFFs Stark and Banner ride into the sunset in a supercar when all is said and done.
Following the release of The Avengers in 2012 it took all of a few days for the ‘Science Bros’ to find a place in internet meme folklore and earn the approval of Mark Ruffalo, who gushed, “I love it; it’s awesome.”
Alas, while the Science Bros will be working together in the early stages of Marvel’s eleventh feature, whatever they manage to cook up together starts a chain reaction that ultimately wrecks a beautiful bromance. Whether or not their friendship gets damaged beyond all repair remains to be seen, but it’ll take some doing to repair the damage to whichever city bears the brunt of their colossal brawl.
