The Resident Evil film franchise centres on Alice, a former Umbrella officer who has vowed to destroy her company after their T-Virus turned most of humanity into zombies. When Alice is injected with the pathogen, she gains superhuman abilities. As such, Umbrella no longer perceives her as their sworn enemy, but as their greatest asset.

In Resident Evil: Extinction, we learn Umbrella has cloned Alice countless times, hoping to create a superhuman army. After defeating the villainous Dr. Isaacs, Alice calls Umbrella leader, Albert Wesker, warning him that she's "coming for you. And I'm gonna be bringing a few of my friends." The camera then zooms backwards, revealing Alice has full access to hundreds of her clones.

Based on this teaser, it looked like the follow-up, Resident Evil: Afterlife, would have a battalion of Alices waging war against Wesker's forces. This assumption was enforced further when Afterlife's trailer showed Milla Jovovich's character teaming up with her doppelgängers.

But for some reason, the filmmakers behind Resident Evil: Afterlife neutered this whole storyline, killing off all the Alice copies within the first ten minutes. Nice one.
