10 Times Pranks Between Movie Co-Stars Went Too Far

2. Billy Boyd And Dominic Monaghan Filmed A Naked Scene Which Was Entirely Made Up

Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan didn't appear to have to do much method acting for their roles as the hapless Hobbits, Merry and Pippin. The behind the scenes documentaries are full of times when the two had either forgotten their lines, misplaced their wardrobe, or would spend the majority of their day pranking the cast and crew.

So, in order to get revenge on the hilarious halflings, the writers and producers decided to write and shoot an utterly humiliating scene that wouldn't even make it into the final cut of the film. The scene involved Merry and Pippin falling off of Tree Beard and, somewhere during the fall, their clothes were snagged on a branch and torn off of their bodies. Then, with nightfall approaching, the two Hobbits huddled their naked bodies together to avoid freezing.

So, after multiple shots of Boyd and Monaghan holding each other completely naked, the crew yelled cut and revealed to them that the scene had zero chance of making it in the movie. Considering the effort and time lost shooting this fake scene, you can't help but wonder if the crew took this hilariously cruel prank too far.
