10 Times Star Wars Totally Trolled You

Fans were certainly feeling disturbances in the Force with these ones.

Star Wars has been a part of cinematic history for many, many, many years at this point.

It's hard to believe that George Lucas would have envisioned that his pokey little space opera would have reached the heights that it has when he first wrote the words "Darth Vader" on the back of a cocktail napkin.

This may not have happened, just speculating.

With countless films, TV shows, books, video games, and novels, you know what that means. More opportunities for the creative forces behind Star Wars to mess with its loyal fanbase!

Lovers of Lucas have been put through a lot of nonsense over the years, as characters have been changed, plot holes have been opened up, and everything they thought they knew about their favourite franchise has been screwed up and chucked away.

In this list, we're looking at instances where Star Wars writers inserted needless components into its stories or promised one thing and then delivered something else entirely.

Whilst the intended outcome of these moves was almost certainly not to anger fans, these decisions all left viewers more upset than a Rancor on bath day.

10. Anakin Forgets He’s Going To Be Vader

Star Wars episodes I-III are all about Anakin Skywalker's journey to becoming Darth Vader.

Star Wars episodes IV-VI are all about Darth Vader's journey to becoming Anakin Skywalker.

As for episodes VII-IX, don't worry; we'll get to those later.

The former podracing king and world's most annoying child turning into the greatest evil the galaxy has ever known, is the engine that drives the most beloved parts of the Star Wars mythos.

Naturally, the animated Clone Wars series chose to mess with that story mightily.

In the Season 3 episode Ghosts of Mortis, Anakin confronts an incredibly powerful Force wielder known as the Son. In an attempt to convert Skywalker to the Dark Side, the Son shows him a vision of the future.

It is revealed to Anakin that he will betray the Jedi, murder his own wife, and transform into Vader. Then, super conveniently, these memories are wiped from his mind at the end of this arc.

So, Anakin technically knew the entire time that he was going to become Vader? He just couldn't remember it?

The Ghosts of Mortis moment was cool and all, but it left a massive hole in an otherwise pretty perfect story.
