10 Times Studios LOCKED AWAY Deleted Movie Scenes From Directors
1. The Thing (2011)

It's absolutely fair to say that the world never really needed a prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 sci-fi horror classic The Thing, and so it wasn't much surprising that the 2011 movie was a relatively mediocre and forgettable effort.
But shortly after the film's release, word emerged that Universal meddled with it extensively in post-production, and were directly responsible for one of The Thing 2011's most complained-about elements: those hideous (and not in a good way) visual effects.
Director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. actually shot the film with largely practical effects, but during editing Universal decided to effectively have the VFX team paint over the practical elements, the results of which were not good.
Given that the jaw-dropping special effects work on Carpenter's movie are its most distinctive selling point, having the prequel opt for unremarkable digital slop was an un-wise decision.
Though the film was reportedly edited to completion with the practical effects in place, there's no chance at all we'll ever get to see it, given that the prequel tanked at the box office and has since been largely forgotten by the fanbase.
