No one would argue that after the first two Thor movies, the franchise needed something of a change in direction. Even Chris Hemsworth was bored with the character, so clearly something new was needed. This came in the form of Taika Waititi.

There aren’t many things that Ragnarok did worse than the two movies that came before it, however the treatment of Lady Sif and the Warriors Three was shocking. All four were big parts of the franchise previously, and big parts of Thor’s life, but they were brushed aside without so much of a second thought.

Volstagg and Fandral were killed immediately when Hela arrived on Asgard without even putting up a fight, and while Hogun was able to at least mount an attack, he was also killed with little fanfare. Thor was never even shown to mourn three of his closest friends.

At least they were actually in the movie however, which is more than can be said for Lady Sif. She was just ignored completely. Jaimie Alexander has since appeared in Loki, and will return for Love and Thunder, but who’s to say that the same thing won’t happen to her just one movie later?
