10 Times Writers Hated The Movie Versions Of Their Work

Unsurprisingly, Alan Moore makes another appearance on this list. Despite Zack Snyder's Watchmen being a veritable cultural phenomenon when it was released in 2009 and making more money in its opening weekend than any other film based on Moore's work, the writer himself had little interest in it.

Part of Moore's philosophy is a strong belief in the idea that comics are a unique medium, allowing stories to be told in ways that other art forms can't convey. Therefore, he didn't believe that any movie could do justice to his original stories and especially regarded Watchmen as one of his most 'un-filmable' creations due to the stylistic storytelling methods and themes he'd employed in the original comics.

Moore argued that Watchmen could only really work as a comic and once again refused to even watch the movie, with Snyder famously quipping that the only way Moore would ever see his take on Watchmen would be if he put the DVD in his player by mistake.
