9. Dance Scene - Napoleon Dynamite
Napoleon Dynamite is an inexplicable cult classic, given that, well, it's just not very funny. Sure, it has a few diverting moments - "Do the chickens have large talons?", Vote Pedro etc - but on the whole it's a film stung by its own minimalism, though I suppose it has to be respected for its firm cult status (it grossed $46 million on a $400k budget) and giving us the talent that is Jon Heder. Still, the sole scene that really works is the climactic dance, when Pedro's election speech bombs, and in an effort to save his buddy from total embarrassment, Napoleon (Heder) runs on stage, performing a ridiculous (and awesome) dance routine to Jamiroquai's tune Canned Heat. It's a lively, vibrant scene from a film that otherwise suffers from being too dialed down and quiet. It also makes it clear that Jon Heder has some (unconventionally) slick dance moves.
