8. Peggy Carter

An officer of the British Armed Forces in and before World War II, Margaret "Peggy" Carter joined the Strategic Scientific Reserve - an Allied deep science agency formed specifically for the fight against the Red Skull's evil HYDRA, the Nazi super weapons division. During the war, she met and fell in love with Steve Rogers AKA Captain America. We didn't really see much of her physical capabilities in the Captain America movies, but her own Marvel One-Shot displayed exactly what she can do. After his death, she was given an office job with the intention of making life easier for her during her bereavement, but she hated it. One night when she was alone in the office, she received a phone call informing her of the location of the mysterious Zodiac - a serum capable of causing loss of life on a massive scale. She headed to the location and was able to retrieve the serum single-handedly, taking down around seven armed men on her own with ease. She went on to be the co-head of the then newly found S.H.I.E.L.D. alongside Howard Stark. She is set to get her own television series, based on her time with S.H.I.E.L.D.
